Articles of Incorporation

In the initial articles of incorporation, the purposes and aim of BCOIA were stated in detail:

 

To develop, encourage and promote interest in, understanding of and appreciation for many cultures and life styles among students, teachers, educators, parents and all people of the world community, and to conduct programs of travel and study in furtherance of intercultural understanding and relations; to facilitate liaison and collaboration among students, teachers and parents and other persons and private and governmental organizations having similar aims and interests; to establish, fund, maintain, supervise, administer, assist, support and otherwise facilitate programs for the travel and exchange of students, teachers and educators and other interested persons within the world community; to prepare, print, produce, provide, distribute and disseminate intercultural educational and informative materials for use of and/or sale to students, parents, teachers, educators and other interested persons and to establish and maintain a depository and research facility for such materials; to establish and maintain a registry of interested and experienced teachers, educators and other persons who may be drawn upon in the preparation and planning of intercultural study programs an curriculum development for schools; to organize, coordinate and conduct forums, discussion groups, seminars, work shops, in-service training sessions and similar activities for such purposes; to solicit, collect, receive, act as conduit, to accept credits, grants, gifts, donations and bequests, and to do all acts and things necessary and proper to raise funds and acquire property for such purposes; and to expend, contribute, disburse, use, pledge, sell, transfer, exchange, convey, give and otherwise handle and dispose of funds and other assets in furtherance of such purposes.
